Aspartame is about 200 times sweeter than sugar and consists of aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and a methyl ester.
„Aspartame is found in sweeteners and is 200 times sweeter than sugar. Aspartame is a chemical compound consisting of aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and a methyl ester. It blocks an enzyme called alkaline phosphatase, and blocking this enzyme causes, among other things,”W słodzikach występuje aspartam, który jest 200 razy słodszy od cukru. Aspartam jest to związek chemiczny, składający się z kwasu asparaginowego, fenyloalaniny i estru metylowego. Blokuje on enzym zwany fosfatazą alkaliczną, a zablokowanie tego enzymu powoduje m.in.

Aspartame is said to block an enzyme, while artificial sweeteners are said to destroy good gut bacteria and cause inflammation.
„It blocks an enzyme called alkaline phosphatase, and blocking this enzyme causes, among other things, diabetes. Artificial sweeteners destroy so-called good bacteria in the digestive tract. This in turn causes areas of inflammation in the wall of the digestive tract, known as “inflammatory bowel disease.””Blokuje on enzym zwany fosfatazą alkaliczną, a zablokowanie tego enzymu powoduje m.in. cukrzycę. Sztuczne słodziki powodują niszczenie tzw. dobrych bakterii w przewodzie pokarmowym. To z kolei powoduje powstanie ognisk zapalnych w ścianie przewodu pokarmowego, rozpoznawanych pod nazwą „nieswoiste zapalenie jelit”.

Jerzy Jaśkowski attributes a 67% increase in the risk of type II diabetes and a 38% increase in the risk of metabolic syndrome to diet drinks containing artificial sweeteners.
„Studies have unequivocally shown that drinking diet drinks sweetened with artificial sweeteners increases the risk of type II diabetes by 67%, whether or not the person has gained weight. In the same group, the risk of metabolic syndrome rises by 38%.”Badania wykazały jednoznacznie, że picie napojów dietetycznych, słodzonych sztucznymi słodzikami, zwiększa ryzyko cukrzycy typu II o 67%, bez względu na to, czy chory przytył, czy też nie. W tej samej grupie ryzyko zespołu metabolicznego wzrasta o 38%.

Jerzy Jaśkowski claims that products sweetened with fructose or sweeteners raise blood sugar levels.
„It is known that all products bought in supermarkets that come in cups or cartons and are sweetened with fructose or sweeteners raise blood sugar levels. Unfortunately, all sweetened drinks—even those labeled as containing natural sugar or fructose—also raise blood sugar levels, because manufacturers do not use natural fructose, but so-called”Wiadomo, że wszelkie produkty kupowane w supermarketach, a będące w kubeczkach, kartonikach, słodzone fruktozą lub słodzikami, podwyższają poziom cukru we krwi. Niestety, także wszelkie napoje słodzone – nawet, na których piszą, że naturalnym cukrem lub fruktozą – powodują wzrost poziomu cukru, ponieważ producenci nie używają naturalnej fruktozy, tylko tzw.

Allulose is said to have about 70% of the sweetness of sugar and almost no calories because the body does not metabolize it.
„Since fructose is one and a half times sweeter than table sugar, we get a molecule that has 70 percent of the sweetness of sugar, and because we cannot metabolize allulose, it has almost 0 calories (1).
Research and development studies in rats (3) and dogs (4) showed a good safety profile, with most of the allulose being absorbed and excreted unchanged in the urine.”Ponieważ fruktoza jest półtora raza słodsza niż cukier stołowy, otrzymujemy cząsteczkę, która ma 70 proc. słodyczy cukru, a ponieważ nie możemy metabolizować allulozy – prawie 0 kalorii (1).
Przeprowadzone prace badawczo-rozwojowe na szczurach (3) i psach (4) wykazały dobry profil bezpieczeństwa, przy czym większość allulozy była wchłaniana i wydalana w postaci niezmienionej z moczem.

Studies in rats and dogs showed a good safety profile for allulose, and the FDA granted it GRAS status.
„Research and development studies in rats (3) and dogs (4) showed a good safety profile, with most of the allulose being absorbed and excreted unchanged in the urine. The FDA granted it GRAS status (Generally Recognized as Safe) [generally considered safe — editor’s note] in 2013, and in 2019”Przeprowadzone prace badawczo-rozwojowe na szczurach (3) i psach (4) wykazały dobry profil bezpieczeństwa, przy czym większość allulozy była wchłaniana i wydalana w postaci niezmienionej z moczem. FDA przyznała jej status GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe [powszechnie uznawany za bezpieczny – przyp. red.] w 2013 r., a w 2019 r.

Dulcin was a diet sweetener, but it was withdrawn from the food market after liver toxicity and carcinogenic effects were detected.
„Dulcin is about 250 times sweeter than sucrose and was used as a diet sweetener until the mid-20th century, when long-term toxicology studies showed that it was hepatotoxic and carcinogenic, leading to its withdrawal from the food market (Bauer-Christoph & Reuß, 1986).”Dulcyna jest około 250 razy słodsza od sacharozy i była stosowana jako słodzik dietetyczny do połowy XX wieku, kiedy długoterminowe badania toksykologiczne wykazały jej hepatotoksyczność i działanie kancerogenne, prowadząc do wycofania z rynku spożywczego (Bauer-Christoph & Reuß, 1986).
Michał Tombak
Michał Tombak advises replacing sugar-sweetened treats for children with products sweetened with honey.
„Parents often ask me how to deal with children who like sweets. So I advise replacing products sweetened with sugar with products sweetened with honey. Children like what we get them used to. White sugar is, to some extent, a drug, which is why it is addictive not only for the youngest children but also for adults.”Często rodzice pytają mnie, jak poradzić sobie z dziećmi, które lubią słodycze. Radzę więc wyroby słodzone cukrem zamieniać na wyroby słodzone miodem. Dzieci lubią to, do czego je przyzwyczaimy. Biały cukier to w pewnym stopniu narkotyk, dlatego uzależnia nie tylko tych najmłodszych, ale i dorosłych.

A meta-analysis found that consuming artificial sweeteners, especially in small amounts, was associated with a lower incidence of colorectal cancer.
Aim of the study: In this study, clinical trials were generalized, summarized, and meta-analyzed to evaluate correlations between artificial sweeteners (ASs) and colorectal cancer (CRC). PubMed, Web of Science, Embase (Ovid platform), MEDLINE, and the Cochrane Library databases were searched from inception until July 24, 2023.
Results: Results showed that the intake of ASs reduced the incidence of CRC (OR = 0.93, 95% CI = [0.87-0.99]) and was not significantly associated with mortality (OR = 0.93, 95% CI = [0.83-1.05]). Subgroup analyses showed that low doses of ASs were associated with lower CRC incidence (OR = 0.90, 95% CI = [0.83-0.99]), and medium/high doses were not associated with CRC incidence (OR = 1.11, 95% CI = [0.93-1.33]; OR = 0.89, 95% CI = [0.79-1.00], respectively). Moreover, low, medium, and high exposures were not associated with an increased risk of mortality due to CRC (OR = 0.95, 95% CI = [0.80-1.14]; OR = 0.99, 95% CI = [0.88-1.11]; OR = 0.93, 95% CI = [0.71-1.21], respectively). The results of our meta-analysis showed that a low intake of ASs may be associated with a lower risk of CRC.
