A study found that orange blossom distillate may reduce anxiety before minor surgery.

Aim of the study: Reducing anxiety is very important before an operation. A preoperative visit and the use of premedication are popular ways to achieve this goal, but the role of anxiolytic premedication remains unclear, and routine premedication may cause postoperative side effects.

Results: After premedication, both the STAI-state and APAIS scores decreased in the C group (p<0.05), while showing no significant changes in the P group. Citrus aurantium blossom may be effective in reducing preoperative anxiety before minor surgery.
