Sources: 14 · Article: 17 735 characters

Henryk Różański mentions, among other things, hare’s ear, water plantain, pumpkin seed oil, and preparations made from chaste tree and other herbs.

  • Henryk Różański also recommends selenium and herbs intended to suppress an excessive immune response and inflammation.
  • Jerzy Jaśkowski believes that deficiencies, including iron, selenium, vitamin D, and iodine deficiencies, should be corrected before symptoms are attributed to thyroid disease.
  • For hypothyroidism, Henryk Różański advises caution when eating cruciferous vegetables; Jerzy Zięba claims that naturopathy can permanently cure Hashimoto’s.

What the authors write

Henryk Różański

For Hashimoto’s with hyperthyroidism, Henryk Różański lists herbs intended to suppress thyroid activity and says that hare’s ear can ease symptoms.

„If hyperthyroidism is found in Hashimoto’s disease (for example, in the early stages), it is worth using natural antithyroid agents, such as rosemary leaf, bugleweed herb, lemon balm herb, sage leaf, and vervain herb. Hare’s ear — Bupleurum — effectively suppresses and eases the symptoms of Hashimoto’s disease. Examples include Bupleurum rotundifolium L., round-leaved hare’s ear (found in Poland), and Bupleurum apiculatum Fiv. (Bulgaria, Romania).”Jeżeli w chorobie Hashimoto stwierdza się nadczynność tarczycy (np. w początkach choroby) warto stosować naturalne tyreostatyki, np. liść rozmarynu, ziele karbieńca, ziele melisy, liść szałwii, ziele werbeny. Objawy choroby Hashimoto efektywnie hamuje i łagodzi przewiercień – Bupleurum, np. Bupleurum rotundifolium L. – przewiercień okrągłolistny (występuje w Polsce), czy Bupleurum apiculatum Fiv. (Bułgaria, Rumunia).
Henryk Różański

Henryk Różański lists herbs rich in saponins, as well as other plants and pumpkin seed oil, and recommends taking the preparations regularly over a longer period.

„Herbs rich in steroidal saponins, such as yucca — Yucca faxoniana, Yucca filamentosa — agave — Agave americana, and Cyanotis arachnoides, may also be useful in treating Hashimoto’s disease. Crassula ovata, Cotinus coggygria, Astragalus membranaceus, Melandrium album, pumpkin seed oil (1 tablespoon 2–3 times a day), corn silk — Stigma Maydis (Zea mays) — and Kalanchoe pinnata are also said to slow atrophic and degenerative changes in the thyroid. The herbs listed are used to prepare infusions, cold-water macerations (Crassula and agave), and tinctures. The preparations should be taken regularly over a longer period.”W leczeniu choroby Hashimoto przydatne są także zioła zasobne w saponiny sterydowe, np. juka – Yucca faxoniana, Yucca filamentosa, agawa – Agave americana, Cyanotis arachnoides. Zmiany zanikowe i zwyrodnieniowe tarczycy hamują również grubosz jajowaty – Crassula ovata, perukowiec – Cotinus coggygria, traganek – Astragalus membranaceus, bniec biały – Melandrium album, olej dyniowy (1 łyżka 2-3 razy dziennie), znamiona kukurydzy – Stigma Maydis (Zea mays), żyworóska – Kalanchoe pinnata.

Henryk Różański says that combining chaste tree, Sarsaparilla, Cyanotis arachnoides, and Catalpa produces good results, and describes using them as a tincture.

„Chaste tree combined with Sarsaparilla, Cyanotis arachnoides, and Catalpa produces good results in treating Hashimoto’s disease. It is best to use these herbs as a tincture made with 60% alcohol. They can be mixed in equal proportions, covered with alcohol, and taken at a dose of 10 ml twice a day for 1 month.”Niepokalanek w połączeniu z Sarsaparilla, Cyanotis arachnoides i Catalpą daje dobre efekty w leczeniu choroby Hashimoto.

Henryk Różański attributes to water plantain an ability to suppress autoimmune reactions and lists it for inflammatory conditions of the thyroid.

„It suppresses autoimmune reactions. It prevents spikes in blood pressure and sharp fluctuations in blood glucose. It is a powerful diuretic. It has an adrenocorticotropic effect. It alleviates inflammation of the intestines, skin, kidneys, and liver. It prevents uterine atony. In traditional medicine and herbalism, water plantain was used for hormonal disorders, diabetes, atherosclerosis, ascites, swelling, scurvy, anemia, and inflammation of the bladder and kidneys.”Hamuje reakcje autoimmunizacyjne. Zapobiega skokom ciśnienia i gwałtownym wahaniom glikemicznym. Silne diureticum. Działa adrenokotrykotropowo. Usuwa stany zapalne jelit, skóry, nerek i wątroby. Zapobiega atonii macicy.

Henryk Różański recommends 100–200 micrograms of selenium a day and herbs intended to suppress immune self-attack and inflammation.

„Thyroxine (levothyroxine) is administered. Taking selenium (100–200 μg per day) is recommended. Among herbal preparations, those that suppress immune self-attack and have exceptional anti-inflammatory properties are particularly recommended.”Podawana jest tyroksyna (lewotyroksyna – levothyroxine). Zalecane jest zażywanie selenu (100-200 ug dziennie). Spośród preparatów ziołowych zalecane są szczególnie te, które hamują autoagresję immunologiczną i mają wyjątkowe właściwości przeciwzapalne.
Henryk Różański

Henryk Różański considers mineral and herbal preparations important in treating Hashimoto’s, while also writing that conventional medicine offers no treatment of the underlying cause.

„Conventional medicine offers no treatment of the underlying cause. Giving immunosuppressant drugs (which reduce immune system activity) is not effective. Some doctors recommend L-T4 (levothyroxine sodium), but so far there are no official results confirming that this drug should be recommended. Mineral and herbal preparations are very important in treating Hashimoto’s disease; I will write about them in the following parts.”Medycyna oficjalna nie oferuje leczenia przyczynowego.

Henryk Różański cautions that people with hypothyroidism should be careful with cruciferous vegetables and ensure that their diet contains enough iodine.

„However, people with hypothyroidism should be careful about eating cruciferous vegetables and taking preparations made from plants containing the glycoside 2-hydroxybut-3-enyl isothiocyanate (goitrin) = thiocyanates. Anyone who eats cruciferous vegetables should ensure an adequate iodine intake to prevent potential side effects from impaired iodination of tyrosine and thyronine in the thyroid.”Należy jednak pamiętać, że osoby cierpiące z kolei na niedoczynność tarczycy powinny zachować ostrożność w spożywaniu roślin kapustnych oraz zażywaniu preparatów opartych na roślinach zawierających glikozyd 2-hydroksybutyleno-3-izotiocyjanianu (goitryna) =tiocyjaniany. Jeżeli ktoś lub warzywa kapustne powinien zadbać o dostateczną podaż jodu w diecie, aby zapobiec potencjalnym skutkom ubocznym zaburzonego jodowania tyrozyny i tyroniny w tarczycy.
Jerzy Jaśkowski

Jerzy Jaśkowski believes that iron, selenium, vitamin D, and iodine deficiencies should be corrected before assessing whether someone has thyroid disease.

„When this patient is “hungry,” we first have to correct the deficiencies, and only then determine whether the patient is actually ill or not. In Poland, this began after the Chernobyl disaster. The government at the time wanted to do something and came up with the idea of giving iodine, especially to children.”Gdy ten chory jest „głodny”, najpierw musimy wyrównać niedobory, a dopiero potem określić, czy chory rzeczywiście jest chory, czy nie.

Jerzy Jaśkowski points out that girls and women who menstruate heavily, as well as pregnant women, may have an iron deficiency.

„Many young girls who menstruate heavily and many pregnant women do not have enough iron. If their levels are not tested and corrected, deficiencies in their organs will also occur. We also know that fluoride damages the thyroid, and dentists have been poisoning people with fluoride for 30 years.”Wiele młodych dziewcząt, które intensywnie miesiączkują i kobiet w ciąży ma za mało żelaz.

Jerzy Zięba claims that naturopathy can permanently cure Hashimoto’s.

„Knowing how to use naturopathy, it is possible to permanently cure, for example, Hashimoto’s disease and other thyroid disorders, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, asthma, lupus, allergies, gastroesophageal reflux disease, as well as cancer and many other conditions.”Wiedząc, w jaki sposób zastosować naturoterapię, można na trwałe wyleczyć np. chorobę Hashimoto czy inne schorzenia tarczycy, łuszczycę, reumatoidalne zapalenie stawów, osteoporozę, astmę, toczeń, alergię, chorobę refluksową żołądka, jak również nowotwory i wiele innych.

A meta-analysis found that Xiaoyao-san preparations reduced thyroid antibodies, and some also improved thyroid hormone levels.

Aim of the study: To assess the effectiveness of Xiaoyao-san (XYS) preparations in treating Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

Results: This study analyzed seven randomized controlled trials involving 612 patients. Meta-analysis demonstrated that XYS preparations significantly reduced TPOAb levels [SMD = -0.74, 95% CI (-1.02, -0.46), p < 0.00001]. Combining LT4 with XYS preparations resulted in a greater reduction in TPOAb than LT4 alone [SMD = -0.77, 95% CI (-1.06, -0.47), p < 0.00001] and was more effective in lowering TgAb levels [SMD = -0.66, 95% CI (-1.05, -0.26), p = 0.001]. XYSJW was more effective than OS in reducing TgAb [SMD = -0.35, 95% CI (-0.58, -0.10), p = 0.005]. Four XYS preparations (XY, HHXY, GQXY, and DZXY) increased FT3 and FT4 levels [SMD = 0.13, 95% CI (0.01, 0.61), p = 0.04; SMD = 0.58, 95% CI (0.12, 1.04), p = 0.01] and decreased TSH [SMD = -0.76, 95% CI (-0.98, -0.54), p < 0.00001]. Subgroup analysis indicated that XY significantly improved FT3 and FT4 levels, but XYS preparations combined with LT4 did not improve FT3/FT4 recovery. XYSJW also did not reduce TSH more effectively than OS.

In a study of patients with Hashimoto’s, Jie Yu Xiao Yin taken with levothyroxine lowered TSH and thyroid antibodies more than levothyroxine alone.

Aim of the study: This study assesses the efficacy of Jie Yu Xiao Yin (JYXY), a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation, in treating Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT).

Results: Baseline parameters were comparable (P > 0.05). At week 12, the treatment group showed greater reductions in TSH (3.06 ± 0.59 vs. 4.89 ± 0.71; P < 0.001), TPOAb (165.37 ± 8.55 vs. 199.28 ± 13.81 IU/mL; P < 0.001), and TGAb (159.77 ± 9.37 vs. 178.26 ± 13.04 IU/mL; P < 0.001). Pro-inflammatory cytokines decreased significantly in the JYXY group: IL-6 (16.02 ± 6.34 vs. 19.84 ± 5.21), IL-17 (21.07 ± 8.95 vs. 30.45 ± 10.12), and TGF-β (18.91 ± 6.12 vs. 22.34 ± 5.67) (all P < 0.001). IL-10 and IL-12 remained unchanged (P > 0.05). TCM scores improved markedly (3.70 ± 0.90 vs. 7.42 ± 4.38; P < 0.001), with higher clinical efficacy (87.63% vs. 69.05%; P < 0.001). JYXY combined with levothyroxine improves thyroid function, decreases autoantibodies and pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-17, TGF-β), and alleviates symptoms in patients with HT, outperforming levothyroxine alone.

In women with Hashimoto’s, a health-promoting diet with a probiotic improved quality of life, and improvement was also recorded with nutritional education alone.

Aim of the study: Background: Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is characterized by chronic inflammation of the thyroid gland. The effects of a health-promoting diet and probiotics on health and quality of life, as well as on anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (anti-TPO) levels, are increasingly being studied.

Results: 19.18 points.). Anti-TPO blood levels and body mass index did not improve in either group. Conclusions: Lp299v can enhance the effectiveness of nutritional education in improving the quality of life of individuals diagnosed with HT. However, these benefits appear to be independent of anti-TPO levels.

In a study of people with Hashimoto’s, curcumin added to an anti-inflammatory diet lowered anti-TPO antibody levels compared with placebo.

Aim of the study: Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease, and patients with HT may benefit from interventions that include anti-inflammatory components. This study aimed to assess the combined effects of an anti-inflammatory diet and curcumin supplementation on thyroid hormones and lipid profiles in patients with HT.

Results: After 12 weeks of intervention, both groups showed reductions in waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio, with greater changes observed in the curcumin group. However, between-group differences were not statistically significant. A significant reduction in anti-TPO levels was observed in the curcumin group compared with placebo (p = 0.006). Although TSH and T3 levels decreased significantly within the curcumin group (p = 0.014 and p = 0.001, respectively), between-group differences were not statistically significant after adjustment. Additionally, HDL-C levels showed a non-significant trend toward improvement in the curcumin group (p = 0.053), whereas other lipid parameters remained unchanged. Curcumin may have potential benefits for thyroid autoimmunity, but further studies are required before it can be used clinically.

A review suggests that Chinese herbal formulas may affect processes related to Hashimoto’s, but the available evidence comes mainly from heterogeneous animal studies.

Aim of the study: Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is a common autoimmune thyroid disease. Although levothyroxine replacement therapy can correct hypothyroidism, it does not directly reverse the autoimmune process. The thyroid-gut axis provides a mechanistic framework for understanding how intestinal barrier injury, microbial dysbiosis, disrupted immune homeostasis, and endocrine disturbance jointly contribute to HT.

Results: The included formulas covered four pathological nodes: intestinal barrier repair (A), gut microbiota remodeling (B), immune homeostasis reconstruction (C), and endocrine function restoration (D). The observed target combinations included A+C, B+C, B+C+D, and A+B+C+D. On this basis, we propose a four-level linkage model to integrate the available evidence. Chinese herbal formulas may modulate HT pathology through multitarget regulation of the thyroid-gut axis. However, the current evidence is mainly derived from heterogeneous preclinical animal studies and remains largely correlative. Future studies should include randomized controlled clinical trials, causal microbiome experiments, standardized outcome assessment, safety evaluation, and pharmacokinetic investigation.
