Detox — cleansing the body or a business built on the gullible?

Sources: 16 · Article: 16 470 characters

Piotr Witczak claims that detox using chlorella, coriander, intravenous DMPS, or glutathione is ineffective and dangerous.

  • Hubert Czerniak recommends coriander and chelation, as well as zinc beforehand.
  • Other authors describe cleansing through diet, herbs, enemas, sauna, or wheatgrass juice.

What the authors write

Piotr Witczak

Piotr Witczak presents a diet-and-supplement program intended to remove toxic elements and restore the body's balance.

„The Holistic Body Renewal Program is a diet-and-supplement program designed to restore and maintain the body's homeostasis. It is holistic because it not only treats symptoms (diet, supplementation), but above all removes the cause of metabolic disorders—toxic elements (the Cutler Protocol).”Holistyczny Program Odnowy Organizmu to program dietetyczno-suplementacyjny, którego celem jest przywrócenie i utrzymanie homeostazy organizmu.
Piotr Witczak

Piotr Witczak claims that detox using chlorella, coriander, intravenous DMPS, or glutathione is ineffective and dangerous.

„…is detoxification using chlorella, coriander, intravenous DMPS or glutathione infusions ineffective and dangerous? …is the condition for effective and safe detoxification of the body from heavy metals to follow the principles of pharmacokinetics and use substances that bind heavy metals for a sufficiently long time?”…detoksykacja za pomocą chlorelli, kolendry, wlewów dożylnych z DMPS czy glutationu jest nieskuteczna i niebezpieczna?
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak recommends coriander and ALA, DMSA, and DMPS at specific intervals, and mentions possible side effects of ALA.

„Dr. Cutler recommended taking ALA every 3 hours, DMSA every 4 hours, and DMPS every 8 hours in cycles of 3 days followed by a 4-day break. Remember that Lugol's solution is always helpful in removing heavy metals. The Cutler Protocol says to take coriander (in any form—leaves, root, or seeds) together with ALA.”Dr Cutler zalecał stosowanie ALA co 3 godziny, DMSA co 4 godziny i DMPS co 8 godzin w cyklach 3-dniowych i 4-dniowej przerwy.
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak describes heavy-metal detox as a complicated but necessary process, and recommends taking zinc before chelation.

„Fighting heavy metals requires a complex approach, but it is essential because it can open the way to health and balance in life. Health, like heavy metals, is hidden deep within our body's stores. We must release the former and effectively get rid of the latter.”Walka z metalami ciężkimi wymaga skomplikowanego podejścia, ale jest niezbędna, ponieważ może otworzyć drogę do zdrowia i równowagi życiowej.
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak recommends a healthy diet, selected herbs, and other products as ways to cleanse the body of heavy metals.

„Detoxification, or cleansing the body, mainly of heavy metals. It is worth starting the cleansing process with a healthy, balanced diet. Buy products from local organic farmers. Do not buy harmful wheat from hypermarkets, which is sprayed with glyphosate.”Detoksykację, czyli oczyszczanie organizmu, głównie z metali ciężkich Oczyszczanie warto rozpocząć od zdrowej, zbilansowanej diety.
Piotr Witczak

Piotr Witczak claims that heavy metals can accumulate in the body and links mercury to disruptions in how the body functions.

„When mineral transport is disrupted, the body's natural detoxification pathways do not work effectively, and mercury and other toxic elements gradually accumulate. Mercury interferes with such a vast number of biochemical processes that poisoning by this element leads to the manifestation of many genetically determined weaknesses in our bodies.”W stanie zaburzonego transportu mineralnego naturalne ścieżki detoksykacji są niewydolne i dochodzi do stopniowej akumulacji rtęci i innych toksycznych pierwiastków.
Piotr Witczak

Piotr Witczak describes preparing for detox as requiring supplements, dietary changes, and ending significant exposure to metals.

„You cannot remove toxins while exposure is ongoing. Put simply: you will not dry off while standing in the rain. Moreover, increasing the body's load of heavy metals while mobilizing them (detoxifying) intensifies their toxic effect. Therefore, a necessary condition for starting the next stage of the Program is avoiding and/or ending significant ongoing exposure to toxic metals (e.g.”Nie można usuwać toksyn w trakcie bieżącej ekspozycji.

Michał Tombak claims that enemas remove toxins and make it easier for the liver and kidneys to do their work.

„Removing toxic substances from the large intestine greatly helps the liver and kidneys with their detoxification work. Some people believe that enemas wash out beneficial bacteria, causing dysbiosis. It should be known that the intestinal flora renews itself within 24 hours, and even if we assume that an enema washes out beneficial bacteria, it also washes out harmful bacteria and toxins, including, among other things.”Wyprowadzanie toksycznych substancji z jelita grubego znacznie ułatwia detoksykacyjną pracę wątroby i nerek.

Michał Tombak claims that cleansing the intestines is beneficial, but advises against frequent hydrocolon therapy because it may harm the microbiome.

„I would also like to add that I have never promoted hydrocolon therapy, because I believe the procedure harms the large intestine's microbiome by introducing a large volume of solution into the intestine at one time. This is especially true if the procedure is performed frequently to lose weight.”Przy okazji dodam, że nigdy nie promowałem hydrokolonoterapii, ponieważ uważam, że ten zabieg jest szkodliwy dla mikrobiomu jelita grubego z powodu jednorazowego wprowadzania do jelita dużej objętości roztworu. Szczególnie jeśli ten zabieg jest wykonywany często w celu zrzucenia nadwagi.
Jerzy Jaśkowski

Jerzy Jaśkowski calls frequent sauna use a simple way to detoxify and links toxin removal to sweating.

„The simplest way to detoxify is to use the sauna often. You can take a child to the sauna and then to the swimming pool, repeating this several times during one session. Sweating through the skin is an excellent way to remove toxins. In the case of so-called”Najprostszym sposobem detoksykacji jest częste korzystanie z sauny. Można zabierać dziecko do sauny, a następnie do basenu i powtarzać kilkakrotnie w czasie jednej sesji. W przypadku tzw.
Jerzy Zięba

Jerzy Zięba attributes a whole-body detoxifying effect to wheatgrass juice.

„Wheatgrass juice has a strong detoxifying effect on the entire body, including the liver, and intensely regenerates the blood. This is why it has unprecedented effectiveness in treating, for example, anemia. Enzymes in wheatgrass juice destroy anaerobic bacteria that are toxic to us and may be found in tissues as well as in the blood.”Sok z pszenicy ma silne działanie detoksykujące cały organizm z wątrobą włącznie, intensywnie regeneruje krew.
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak links blood cleansing to liver activity during specific nighttime hours.

„When the “triple burner” stops working at 11 p.m., the gallbladder begins its work (between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.), followed by the liver and blood cleansing (between 1 and 3 a.m.). These are crucial hours, and lost sleep cannot be made up, because melatonin is produced only during these hours.”Gdy kończy działanie „potrójny ogrzewacz”, czyli o godz. 23, zaczyna się praca pęcherzyka żółciowego (między godz. 23 a 1), a następnie wątroby i oczyszczania krwi (między godz. 1 a 3).

Henryk Różański describes detoxification as a popular topic and discusses herbs said to “cleanse the blood,” including couch grass.

„Recently, methods of detoxification—cleansing the body of toxins—have become a very popular topic of conversation among people who lead a healthy lifestyle. Herbal medicine has known about this subject since its beginnings. In the past, such remedies were called depurativa, meaning medicines that “cleanse the blood.””Ostatnio bardzo modnym tematem rozmów wśród osób prowadzących zdrowy tryb życia są metody detoksykacji, czyli odtruwania organizmu.

After 28 days of supplementation, the group taking the detox product had lower levels of selected toxic metal and urine mutagenicity markers, and lower scores for fatigue and sleep disruption.

Aim of the study: The persistent accumulation of toxins and difficulty clearing them from tissues over time may contribute to the development and worsening of several diseases. Hepatic metabolic detoxification is a key physiological process responsible for clearing toxic substances from the body. A healthy diet with nutritional supplements may support metabolic detoxification and help reduce the negative effects of toxin burden.

Results: Compared with baseline, the detox group showed significantly lower total toxic metal levels in red blood cells, lower total urine porphyrins, and lower urine mutagenicity potency. Both the detox and active control groups showed improvements in symptoms attributed to elevated toxin burden. Fatigue and sleep disruption scores were significantly reduced in the detox group compared with baseline. No significant differences in body measurements or vital signs were found, and neither group experienced adverse events or side effects during the study. This study demonstrates the benefit of nutritional intervention in supporting metabolic detoxification, as shown by significant changes in several detoxification biomarkers and improved questionnaire scores related to quality of life, general health, and well-being.

After four weeks on the Wellnessup diet, levels of four toxic elements in hair decreased, as did some body circumference measurements.

Aim of the study: Detox diets are popular dietary strategies said to help eliminate toxins and manage weight, but there is very little clinical evidence. The Wellnessup diet (WD) used in this study was designed as a healthy eating plan based on organic plant foods, including a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, and phytonutrients.

Results: The levels of four toxic trace elements in hair decreased in the WD group after the diet compared with before it. Ni, Rh, Sn, and Ga were significantly lower in the WD group than in the CRD or MRD group (p < 0.05). At the end of the trial, both the WD and CRD groups had lower BMI, waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), and WHR than at baseline (p < 0.05). Compared with the WD group, the CRD group had a greater mean change from baseline (p < 0.05) in weight loss (- 3.22 ± 0.48 kg vs - 1.88 ± 0.95 kg) and fat-free mass (- 2.08 kg vs - 1.09 kg). Weight, BMI, body fat mass, fat-free mass, WC, and HC decreased significantly in the CRD group compared with the MRD group (p < 0.05). No significant changes were observed in any safety parameter.

In a short study, the lemon diet was associated with a reduction in body fat and some metabolic markers, similar to a diet with the same calorie content.

Aim of the study: The lemon detox program is a very low-calorie diet consisting of a mixture of organic maple and palm syrups and lemon juice during a 7-day period of abstinence. We hypothesized that the lemon detox program would reduce body weight and body fat mass, thereby lowering insulin resistance and known risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Results: Serum insulin levels, homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance scores, leptin, and adiponectin levels decreased in the Lemon-D and Positive-C groups. Serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels were also reduced in the Lemon-D group only. Hemoglobin and hematocrit levels remained stable in the Lemon-D group, while they decreased in the Positive-C and Normal-C groups. We therefore suggest that the lemon detox program reduces body fat and insulin resistance through calorie restriction and may have a potential beneficial effect on cardiovascular disease risk factors by reducing circulating hs-CRP, without changes in blood counts.

The case report indicated that most of the patient's symptoms following malathion exposure had resolved after three months of the interventions described.

Aim of the study: Detoxification is a vital cellular task. If it is lacking, this can lead to early illness and death. Detoxification involves the mobilization, biotransformation, and elimination of toxic substances from both outside and inside the body.

Results: With this diet, the patient removes the most common allergenic foods and drinks from their diet and replaces them with nonallergenic alternatives for 4 weeks, then gradually adds the eliminated foods back and observes their effects. Another effective clinical tool discussed by the author is a detox-focused core food plan, which identifies the range of foods needed to provide key nutrients that can maximize the effectiveness of detoxification. Finally, the author presents a case study in which these tools were used to help a patient suffering from major, debilitating illnesses caused by exposure to malathion, including severe vomiting and diarrhea, headaches, night sweats, severe joint and muscle pain, episcleritis, and shortness of breath. The article details the interventions used and the clinical results (that is, successful resolution of most problems after 3 months).
