The leaf may relieve mild skin inflammation and reduce excessive sweating of the hands and feet.
„The HMPC concluded that, on the basis of long-standing use, walnut leaf may be used to relieve mild skin inflammation and reduce excessive sweating of the hands and feet. Preparations made from walnut leaf should be used only by adults and for no longer than one week.”HMPC stwierdził, że z uwagi na długotrwałe stosowanie liść orzecha włoskiego może być stosowany w łagodzeniu łagodnych stanów zapalnych skóry oraz w zmniejszaniu nadmiernej potliwości dłoni i stóp. Przetwory z liścia orzecha włoskiego powinny być stosowane wyłącznie u osób dorosłych i nie dłużej niż jeden tydzień.

The HMPC justifies these uses on the basis of tradition, although there is not enough evidence from clinical studies.
„The HMPC’s conclusions on the use of medicines containing walnut leaf for mild skin inflammation and excessive sweating are based on their “traditional use”. This means that, although there is not enough evidence from clinical studies, the effectiveness of these herbal medicines is plausible and there is evidence that they have been used safely in this way for at least 30 years (including at least 15 years in the EU).”Wnioski HMPC dotyczące stosowania leków zawierających liść orzecha włoskiego w przypadku łagodnych stanów zapalnych skóry oraz nadmiernej potliwości wynikają z ich „tradycyjnego stosowania”.

Juglone is present in dried leaves only in trace amounts, and no adverse effects of these medicines were reported during the assessment.
„No adverse effects associated with the use of these medicines had been reported by the time the HMPC carried out its assessment. In its assessment, the HMPC considered the potential effects of juglone (a toxic substance in the walnut tree), but noted that this substance is present in dried walnut leaves only in trace (very small) amounts and therefore does not pose a risk to human health.”Do chwili przeprowadzenia przez HMPC oceny nie zgłoszono żadnych działań niepożądanych związanych ze stosowaniem tych leków.

A decoction of ground leaves is prepared for use on the skin.
„Herbal medicines containing walnut leaf are usually available as ground plant material, which is boiled in water to make a decoction for use on the skin. In some herbal medicines, walnut leaf is combined with other plant-based substances.”Leki roślinne zawierające liść orzecha włoskiego są zazwyczaj dostępne w postaci zmielonego surowca roślinnego, który gotuje się w wodzie w celu uzyskania odwaru do stosowania na skórę. W niektórych lekach roślinnych liść orzecha włoskiego jest łączony z innymi substancjami pochodzenia roślinnego.

Commission E recommended using the leaf externally for mild skin inflammation and excessive sweating, not internally.
„The German Commission E did not approve walnut leaf for internal use, contrary to traditional herbal medicine and earlier official medicine. In its monograph no. 101 of 01.06.1990, Commission E stated that Juglandis Folium should be used externally for mild, superficial skin inflammation and excessive sweating, for example of the hands and feet.”Niemiecka Komisja E nie przewidziała liścia orzecha włoskiego do stosowania wewnętrznego, wbrew fitoterapii tradycyjnej oraz dawnej medycynie oficjalnej.

Henryk Różański attributes to the leaves and husks an effect that relieves diarrhoea, indigestion and bloating, as well as itchy skin.
„They inhibit diarrhoea and indigestion, excessive fermentation and bloating, and reduce milk production during lactation. They also inhibit suppurative processes, soothe itchy skin and reduce swelling of the mucous membranes. In 1913, Hynek reported that walnut leaf extracts had anti-haemorrhagic properties.”Hamują biegunkę i niestrawność, nadmierne procesy fermentacji oraz wzdęcia, zmniejszają wydzielanie mleka podczas laktacji. Powstrzymują też procesy ropne, łagodzą świąd skóry, zmniejszają obrzęk błon śluzowych. W 1913 r. Hynek ogłosił przeciwkrwotoczne właściwości ekstraktów z liścia orzecha włoskiego.

Henryk Różański lists leaf infusion as a way to treat diarrhoea.
„Swiss herbal medicine practitioner and researcher Maja Dal Cero (2009) wrote in one of her books: “Tee: 1 bis 2 Esslöffel Nussbaumblätter mit 1 Liter Wasser anbrühen und ziehen lassen bei Durchafall”; in other words, steep 1–2 tablespoons of chopped walnut leaves in 1 litre of boiling water. Drink for diarrhoea.”Szwajcarska fitoterapeutka Maja Dal Cero (2009 r.), która jest praktykiem i naukowcem z zakresu ziołolecznictwa napisała w jednej ze swoich książek: “Tee: 1 bis 2 Esslöffel Nussbaumblätter mit 1 Liter Wasser anbrühen und ziehen lassen bei Durchafall”; zatem 1-2 łyżki rozdrobnionych liści orzecha włoskiego na 1 l wrzącej wody, naparzyć. Wypić przy biegunce.

Historical accounts mention the leaf for rashes and intestinal parasites.
„In the first half of the 19th century, Negrier-Anders recommended walnut against scrofula, and somewhat later Aschenbrenner recommended it for tonsillitis. Schulz used walnut leaf with good results to treat joint inflammation associated with gout, rashes and intestinal parasites, and also as a blood purifier.”W I połowie XIX wieku Negrier-Anders zalecał orzech włoski przeciwko skrofulozie, a nieco później Aschenbrenner przy zapaleniu migdałków. Schulz stosował z dobrym skutkiem liść orzecha włoskiego w leczeniu stanów zapalnych stawów w przebiegu dny, w leczeniu wyprysków i parazytozy jelit, ponadto jako środek czyszczący krew.
Henryk Różański
Henryk Różański says that mixtures containing the leaf reduced diarrhoea in livestock.
„I can confirm that mixtures containing walnut leaf inhibited congestion of the intestines and stomach, as well as diarrhoea with heavy discharge, in livestock (pigs and poultry). We also know today that walnut may increase blood clotting because it has a developed metabolic pathway leading to the synthesis of phylloquinones, or vitamin K.”Ja ze swojej strony mogę potwierdzić, że mieszanki zawierające liść orzecha włoskiego hamowały u zwierząt gospodarskich przekrwienie jelit i żołądka oraz biegunkę z obfitym wysiękiem (trzoda chlewna, drób). Ponadto, dziś wiemy, że orzech włoski może zwiększać krzepliwość krwi, bowiem posiada wykształcony szlak metaboliczny prowadzący do syntezy fitochinonów, czyli witaminy K (fillochinonów).
