Taking hyaluronic acid orally is described as having little value because it is supposed to be digested into simple, inactive components.
„Although administering them directly into tissues—for example, into joints or into the skin (parenterally)—is scientifically justified and produces results, taking them orally is of little value and makes no sense, since they are digested in the digestive tract into simple components that are pharmacologically inactive.”O ile ich podawanie dotkankowe – np. do stawów, do wnętrza skóry (pozajelitowe) jest uzasadnione naukowo i przynosi efekty, to jednak zażywanie ich doustne jest mało racjonalne i bezsensowne, bowiem i tak zostają strawione w przewodzie pokarmowym do składników prostych, nieaktywnych farmakologicznie.
Henryk Różański
The body does not direct an absorbed component specifically to the affected organ or area.
„The body cannot direct an absorbed component specifically to a particular (affected) organ and accumulate it there, or incorporate it only there (this is how future smart medicines will work). After administration, for example, of hyaluronic acid intravenously, it is distributed throughout all tissues, not just the diseased cartilage tissue in a particular area of the body, for example.”Organizm nie ma zdolności kierowania wchłoniętego składnika dokładnie do określonego organu (chorego) i tam kumulowania go lub tylko tam go wbudowywania (tak będą działać przyszłościowe leki inteligentne). Po podaniu, np.kwasu hialuronowego dożylnie rozprowadzony zostaje on do wszystkich tkanek, a nie tylko chorej tkanki chrzęstnej w określonej okolicy ciała, np.

Hyaluronic acid joins with proteoglycans, which bind water and form a gel in the ground substance of the tissue.
„Proteoglycan monomers join with hyaluronic acid to form proteoglycan macromolecules. The macromolecules fill the spaces in the ground substance, bind water, and take the form of a gel. Thanks to this structure, the ground substance allows tissue fluid (filtered blood plasma) to circulate, providing nutrients to cells in connective tissue proper and cartilage.”Monomery proteoglikanów ulegają połączeniu z kwasem hialuronowym, co daje makrocząsteczki proteoglikanów. Makroczęsteczki wypełniaja przestrzenie w istocie podstawowej, wiążą wodę, przybierając postać żelu. Istota podstawowa dzięki takiej budowie umożliwia krążenie płynu tkankowego (przesączu osocza krwi), który pełni funkcje odżywcze dla komórek tkanki łącznej właściwej i tkanki chrzęstnej.
Andrzej Frydrychowski
Cartilage has no blood vessels, and its nutrients are found in synovial fluid; regular movement helps move the fluid into the joint.
„All the nutrients are in the synovial fluid surrounding the joints. So we need to make the fluid enter the joints. The only way is to compress the joints through regular movement. Running does cause a number of tiny injuries and damage to muscle fibers, but at the same time, these exercises strengthen the body, help it repair itself, and make it stronger and healthier.”Wszystkie substancje odżywcze znajdują się w mazi stawowej, która otacza stawy. Musimy zatem spowodować, aby maź weszła do stawów.

In cartilage, hyaluronic acid binds water and helps it withstand compression.
„In cartilage, proteoglycans, namely hyaluronic acid, represent a high-molecular-weight polyanionic complex that forms the important compressible component of cartilage due to their high water-binding capacity [192]. An example of a CT disorder that affects joints and is associated with both T2D [193] and CMA [194] is osteoarthritis.”In cartilage, proteoglycans, namely hyaluronic acid, represent a high-molecular-weight polyanionic complex that forms the important compressible component of cartilage due to their high water-binding capacity [192]. Hubert Czerniak
Hubert Czerniak lists hyaluronic acid preparations as one option to support symptomatic treatment.
„Alternatively, one can take various preparations containing chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, ginger rhizome extract, and natural vitamin C. Vitamins from the ADEK group are also necessary, and then we stop the inflammatory process. Since this disease is associated with pain, these areas should be warmed; they are often small joints.”Ewentualnie przyjmowaniem różnych preparatów z siarczanem chondroityny, kwasem hialuronowym, ekstraktem z kłącza imbiru, naturalną witaminą C. Ale konieczne są też witaminy z grupy ADEK i wtedy zatrzymujemy proces zapalny. Ponieważ ta choroba łączy się z bólem, należy rozgrzać te elementy, a często są to małe stawy.

In a four-week study, a tablet containing hyaluronic acid and boswellia extract was associated with improvement in people with knee osteoarthritis, but the effect cannot be attributed to hyaluronic acid alone.
Aim of the study: Background: Hyaluronic acid (HA), glucosamine (Glc), and chondroitin sulfate (CS) are key ingredients commonly incorporated into dietary chondroprotective supplements for the management of osteoarthritis (OA). Despite their widespread use, there is a paucity of published data regarding their efficacy and safety, necessitating rigorous investigation in clinical settings.
Results: Both supplements showed a limited number of treatment-emergent adverse events. Conclusion: Oral supplementation with either HA or Glc + CS demonstrated potential benefits for managing symptoms of mild-to-moderate knee OA. Notably, HA supplementation was associated with greater improvements in pain relief and higher elevations in serum adropin levels compared to Glc + CS supplementation. However, larger-scale and longer-term studies are necessary to further evaluate the safety and efficacy of these dietary supplements within the clinical management arsenal for knee OA.

„From 2000 to the present, the FDA has prohibited companies that sell glucosamine and chondroitin from telling Americans about evidence that these dietary ingredients treat osteoarthritis and relieve osteoarthritis pain and stiffness.
