In Hubert Czerniak’s view, two-year courses of several antibiotics can devastate the bacterial flora.
„There is even Professor Nicolson’s protocol—in which patients are given several antibiotics in courses over two years, resulting in their bacterial flora being devastated. So what do we digest with in that case? Whatever is left. All problems start with the biotome, or intestinal flora, because that is where all disorders originate.”Jest nawet schemat profesora Nicolsona – przez dwa lata podaje się pacjentowi w seriach kilka antybiotyków, czego efektem jest zdziesiątkowana flora bakteryjna. Czym więc w takim wypadku trawimy? Tym, co pozostało. Wszystkie problemy zaczynają się od biotomu, czyli od flory jelitowej, bo to właśnie tam swoje źródło mają wszystkie zaburzenia.

Hubert Czerniak links weakened intestinal immunity and leaky gut to a cascade of diseases.
„So if intestinal immunity is weakened, if the gut becomes leaky, then everything that should naturally be killed and neutralized enters our body, and a whole cascade of diseases begins.
A good example of the L-form of bacteria may be the form of Lyme disease.”Jeśli więc odporność jelitowa jest osłabiona, jeśli dochodzi do rozszczelnienia jelit, to wszystko to, co naturalnie powinno być zabite i zneutralizowane, wchodzi do naszego organizmu i rozpoczyna się cała lawina — kaskada chorób.
Doskonałym przykładem formy L-bakterii może być forma boreliozy.

Hubert Czerniak describes antibiotics used for ear infections as causing the bacterial flora to be wiped out.
„Then antibiotics come into the picture, and an antibiotic means dysbiosis—the wiping out of the entire bacterial flora. It is not like taking Lugol’s solution, where iodine kills bacteria, but only pathogenic ones, because our saprophytic bacteria have a membrane that does not react with iodine to the same extent as the membranes of active bacteria.”Wtedy pojawiają się antybiotyki, a antybiotyk to dysbioza, czyli wybicie całej fl ory bakteryjnej. To nie tak, jak podanie płynu Lugola, gdzie jod zabija bakterie, ale te patogenne, bo nasze (saprofi tyczne) mają taką błonę, że jod z nią nie reaguje w takim stopniu, jak z bakteriami aktywnymi.

Hubert Czerniak gives two weeks as the maximum time for taking an antibiotic and stresses the need to strengthen immunity.
„We can give the antibiotic mentioned earlier, but for no longer than two weeks—that is the maximum period. The most important thing is to strengthen the body’s own immunity. You can start going to the sauna, because any increase in body temperature is an important part of building immunity.”Możemy podać wspomniany już wcześniej antybiotyk, ale nie dłużej niż przez dwa tygodnie – jest to maksymalny okres. Najważniejsze jest podniesienie odporności własnej. Można zacząć chodzić na saunę, ponieważ każde podniesienie temperatury ciała to ważny element budowania odporności.

For Lyme disease, Hubert Czerniak advises against antibiotics and recommends strengthening the body and rebuilding the intestinal flora.
„So if we want to take up arms against Lyme disease, let’s not reach for antibiotics, because the result will be the opposite of what we intend. Let’s reach for a weapon that has a real chance of winning—consciously strengthening the body, repairing the intestinal flora, and rebuilding the microbiome.”Jeśli więc chcemy wytoczyć działa przeciw boreliozie, nie sięgajmy po antybiotyki, bo skutek będzie odwrotny do zamierzonego. Sięgnijmy po broń, która ma rzeczywistą szansę na wygraną – świadome wzmocnienie organizmu, naprawę flory jelitowej i odbudowanie mikrobiomu.

In children with acute sinusitis, antibiotics reduced the risk of treatment failure, although they caused diarrhea more often.
Aim of the study: Acute sinusitis is one of the leading causes of antibiotic prescriptions in children. No recent systematic reviews have examined the efficacy of antibiotics compared with placebo. We sought to determine if antibiotics are superior to placebo in the treatment of acute sinusitis in children.
Results: Analysis of 6 included studies showed that antibiotic treatment reduced the rate of treatment failure by 41% (with a risk ratio of 0.59; 95% confidence interval 0.49-0.72) compared with placebo. There was substantial heterogeneity between the studies (I2 = 69.7%), which decreased substantially when the 1 study with a high risk of bias was removed (I2 = 26.9%). Children treated with antibiotics were 1.6 times more likely to have diarrhea than those who were not treated with antibiotics (risk ratio = 1.62, 95% confidence interval 1.04-2.51). In children with clinically diagnosed acute sinusitis, antibiotics significantly reduced the rate of treatment failure compared with placebo. However, given the favorable natural history of sinusitis, our results could also support close observation without immediate antibiotic treatment.

In children with asthma, broad-spectrum antibiotics used for non-specific upper respiratory tract infections were associated with a slightly higher risk of asthma exacerbation.
Aim of the study: Antibiotics are often prescribed to children with asthma for non-specific upper respiratory tract infections (NS-URTIs), but their association with exacerbation risk in children with pre-existing asthma is unclear. We aimed to determine if antibiotics are associated with asthma exacerbation risk in the 6 months following NS-URTI resolution.
Results: Risk ratios (RR) and differences (RDs) were estimated using inverse probability of treatment weighted log-binomial models. Among 13 646 children (24 139 person-trials), 8.8% and 11.4% received narrow- and broad-spectrum antibiotics, respectively. Compared with no antibiotics, narrow-spectrum antibiotics were associated with an RR of 1.26 (95%CI, 0.99-1.53; RD, 0.07%), while broad-spectrum antibiotics were associated with an RR of 1.28 (95%CI, 1.03-1.54; RD, 0.08%). Broad-spectrum antibiotics were associated with modestly higher exacerbation risks, although absolute RDs were small (<0.1%).

„still receive antibiotics from their doctor” even though “the CDC warns that 90% of upper respiratory infections, including children's ear infections, are viral, and antibiotics don't treat viral infection. More than 40% of about 50 million prescriptions for antibiotics each year in physicians' offices were inappropriate.” Additionally, every year, a staggering 25 million pounds of antibiotics are administered to farm animals, most given in an attempt to prevent illness. Seepage from feedlots results in low concentrations of antibiotics in our waterways and food. „Antibiotics given during full-blown infection seem to make the sickness worse in most people. They can actually make the coughing fits more severe by releasing LPS (lipopolysaccharide) from other gram-negative gut bacteria during the microbial die-off that happens. This will increase the requirement of the liver's detoxification of all bodily toxins during a time when lung bacteria are releasing extra toxin hand over fist.”Antibiotics given during full-blown infection seem to make the sickness worse in most people. „So far, my children have not needed to take an antibiotic, either. We use vitamin C instead. When we get our kids to saturation, we make sure they stay hydrated with plenty of water. Since high-dose C can take their appetite away, we make sure that during this process, they eat good-for-them food that they enjoy. We also have them drink plenty fresh, raw, homemade vegetable juice every day. This is also exactly what my parents did with me when I was young. Remember, if you have a really sick kid, you should go to the doctor. Diagnosis is a valuable tool.”So far, my children have not needed to take an antibiotic, either. We use vitamin C instead.
