The therapy is described as supportive for many conditions, and the patient receives pure oxygen at a pressure of 1.3–1.5 atmospheres.

„Hyperbaric therapy strengthens, treats, and prevents: Reduces migraine pain Prevents cell aging Helps treat depression Strengthens the immune system Helps treat anemia Effectively helps with carbon monoxide and cyanide poisoning Treats blockages in the retinal arteries Makes breathing easier for people with asthma and allergies Improves and strengthens physical fitness Helps the body recover after procedures Treats necrotizing infections Helps with serious brain injuries Effective in combating vascular dementia Supports weight loss A hyperbaric chamber, in which oxygen is used at high pressure, is one of the more effective supportive therapies for many conditions. The procedure performed in the chamber is called hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This means that the patient is given pure oxygen at a pressure of 1.3–1.5 atmospheres.”Terapia hiperbaryczna wzmacnia, leczy, zapobiega: Zmniejsza bóle migrenowe Zapobiega starzeniu się komórek Pomaga w leczeniu depresji Wzmacnia układ odpornościowy Pomaga w leczeniu niedokrwistości Skutecznie pomaga przy zatruciach tlenkiem węgla i cyjankiem Leczy niedrożność tętnic siatkówkowych Ułatwia oddychanie astmatykom i alergikom Poprawia i wzmacnia wydolność fizyczną Regeneracja organizmu po zabiegach Leczy martwicze infekcje Pomaga przy poważnych urazach mózgu Skuteczna w walce z demencją naczyniową Wspomaga odchudzanie Komora hiperbaryczna, w ramach której stosuje się tlen pod wysokim ciśnieniem, to jedna ze skuteczniejszych terapii wspomagających w przypadku wielu schorzeń.

Pressurized oxygen increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in body fluids; the indications mentioned include, among others, severe anemia, carbon monoxide poisoning, sudden deafness, and wounds that are difficult to heal.

„By increasing the atmospheric pressure in the chamber, more oxygen can be dissolved into the plasma than would be seen at surface pressure. Interestingly, HBOT works to improve oxygenation independent of the oxygen transported by hemoglobin. There are many clinical indications for which HBOT has shown safety and effectiveness. These include: Severe anemia, brain abscess, bubbles of air in your blood vessels, known as arterial gas embolism, burns, carbon monoxide poisoning, crushing injury, sudden deafness, decompression sickness, gangrene, infection of skin or bone that causes tissue death, nonhealing wounds, such as a diabetic foot ulcer, radiation injury, skin graft or skin flap at risk of tissue death, and vision loss.”By increasing the atmospheric pressure in the chamber, more oxygen can be dissolved into the plasma than would be seen at surface pressure. Igor Dogocki lists uses for neurological and autoimmune diseases, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, anemia, diabetes, hearing loss, migraines, and obesity.

„A hyperbaric chamber is recommended for neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ADHD, or as a supportive therapy for autism. Oxygen therapy is also recommended for wounds that are difficult to heal. Oxygen stimulates the cells in our body to grow and repair themselves, which may speed up healing in some cases. It is also used for autoimmune diseases, high blood pressure, and atherosclerosis. Supplying the body with oxygen can also help treat anemia and is used as part of diabetes therapy when necrosis occurs. It is also an important step after a transplant, for example of a limb, when there is a risk of rejection, as well as for decompression sickness and sudden, unexplained hearing loss.

Igor Dogocki presents the therapy as a way to increase the number of stem cells and help the body regenerate.

„A hyperbaric chamber supports stem cells, the most important cells in the human body. Their role is to rebuild cells in tissues and organs damaged by infections, diseases, or aging. Hyperbaric therapy increases the number of these cells eightfold, leading to regeneration throughout the body and health benefits that cannot be achieved with conventional medicine.”Komora hiperbaryczna wspomaga komórki macierzyste, które są najważniejszymi cząstkami ludzkiego organizmu (ich zadanie to odbudowa komórek tkanek i narządów zniszczonych przez infekcje, choroby czy starość). Dzięki terapii hiperbarycznej w organizmie następuje ośmiokrotny wzrost tych komórek powodując regenerację całego organizmu i rezultaty dla zdrowia niemożliwe do osiągnięcia w medycynie konwencjonalnej.
Igor Dogocki

The uses mentioned also include skin problems, digestive complaints, injuries, and improved recovery after physical exertion.

„Skin smoothing—the hyperbaric therapy increases the production of collagen and elastin Treatment of skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea Treatment of digestive complaints ranging from malabsorption to irritable bowel syndrome Increased performance in athletes: Speeding up the healing of tissues, ligaments, and broken bones, as well as reducing scar formation and damage Supporting treatment for acute injuries Clinically proven to reduce recovery time after training, lower resting heart rate, improve sleep, reduce muscle soreness, and, above all, increase speed and endurance A hyperbaric chamber session is painless and consists simply of breathing therapeutic oxygen.”Wygładzanie skóry-terapia hiperbaryczna powoduje wzrost produkcji kolagenu i elastyny Terapia dolegliwości skórnych takich jak trądzik, egzema, łuszczyca i trądzik różowaty Terapia przy dolegliwościach ze strony układu pokarmowego od zaburzeń wchłaniania do zespołu jelita drażliwego Zwiększenie wydajności u sportowców: Przyspieszenie procesu zdrowienia tkanek, więzadeł i złamanych kości a także zredukowanie tworzenia się blizn i uszkodzeń Wspomaganie terapii przy ostrych urazach Klinicznie dowiedziona zmniejszenie czasu regeneracji po treningu, zmniejszone tętno spoczynkowe, lepszy sen, zmniejszona bolesność mięśni i przede wszystkim zwiększenie szybkości i wytrzymałości Zabieg w komorze hiperbarycznej jest bezbolesny, polega on jedynie na wdychaniu leczniczego tlenu.

Igor Dogocki describes possible uses of the therapy for gynecological complaints, rheumatism, and sudden deafness.

„Gynecology and obstetrics Pressure higher than atmospheric pressure allows oxygen to enter the body’s cells without obstruction. This speeds up the body’s recovery and effectively boosts the immune system and physiological fluids, which may be beneficial for women’s health problems and help women get back into shape more quickly after pregnancy. Rheumatism In the United States, oxygen therapy is now standard treatment for rheumatoid conditions.
Igor Dogocki

Igor Dogocki links chronic inflammation to many diseases and describes the therapy as a way to oxygenate tissues and help them regenerate.

„Chronic inflammation Oxygen easily reaches tissues, reducing chronic inflammation—the cause of most serious chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases including heart attacks, atherosclerosis, and strokes; cancer; joint diseases; diabetes; insulin resistance; acid reflux; stomach ulcers; inflammatory bowel disease; as well as overweight, obesity, neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease or autism, and almost all autoimmune diseases.”Przewlekłe stany zapalne Tlen z łatwością przedostaje się do tkanek, redukując przewlekłe stany zapalne – przyczynę większości poważnych chorób przewlekłych takich jak: choroby układu sercowo-naczyniowego, takie jak zawały serca, miażdżyca, czy udary mózgu, choroby nowotworowe, choroby stawów, cukrzyca, insulinooporność, refluks żołądka, wrzody żołądka, choroby zapalne jelit, a także nadwaga, otyłość, choroby neurologiczne, jak choroba Alzheimera czy autyzm oraz niemal wszystkie choroby z autoagresji.

Igor Dogocki describes the therapy as a way to increase the effects of antibiotics and kill microorganisms in Lyme disease.

„Treatment in a hyperbaric chamber can significantly increase the effects of antibiotics, making them work more strongly and reach places they could not reach before. Another very important benefit of oxygen therapy is its bactericidal effect: oxygen kills microorganisms.”Leczenie komorą hiperbaryczną pozwala znacznie zwiększyć działanie antybiotyków, dzięki temu działają one mocniej ale również docierają do miejsc wcześniej niedostępnych.
Igor Dogocki

Igor Dogocki lists uses for brain injuries, cardiovascular problems, injuries, and recovery after physical exertion.

„Help for the heart It supplies oxygen to diseased tissues, effectively preventing further damage to the heart muscle and heart attacks. It also improves the results of treatment for cardiovascular diseases. It helps oxygenate tissues affected by blood clots and blocked blood vessels.”Ratunek dla serca Dostarcza tlenu chorym tkankom, przez co skutecznie zapobiega dalszym uszkodzeniom mięśnia serca i atakom serca. Poprawia też efekty leczenia chorób układu sercowo-naczyniowego. Pomaga w dotlenieniu tkanek chorych z powodu zakrzepów i niedrożności naczyń krwionośnych.
Igor Dogocki

Igor Dogocki lists neurological rehabilitation, healing after surgery, diabetes complications, and wounds after dental procedures.

„Neurological rehabilitation It reduces damage to nerve cells and effectively stimulates the brain. This is important after ischemic events and strokes. Dormant cells are stimulated to become active and function properly. Doctors report that hyperbaric therapy leads to long-term improvement in the patient’s condition, reduced pain and symptoms of depression, and better sleep quality.”Rehabilitacja neurologiczna Redukuje uszkodzenia komórek nerwowych i efektywnie stymuluje mózg.

Igor Dogocki describes stem cells as cells that can renew or replace damaged tissues, and attributes their activation to oxygen therapy.

„They are transplanted from the bone marrow to the area that needs repair. Recently, stem cells from umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue have also been used more often. That is why hyperbaric oxygen therapy is called “surgery without a scalpel”—it multiplies and activates stem cells without surgical intervention.”Przeszczepia się je ze szpiku kostnego do miejsca potrzebującego odnowy. Ostatnio coraz częściej stosuje się komórki macierzyste z krwi pępowinowej i sznura pępowiny. Dlatego terapia tlenem hiperbarycznym jest „operacją bez skalpela” – pomnaża i aktywuje komórki macierzyste bez ingerencji chirurga.
Igor Dogocki

Igor Dogocki lists uses for ADHD and autism and notes that, for cerebral palsy, the therapy is not a miracle cure and should be accompanied by exercise.

„Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is not a miracle cure for children with cerebral palsy, but it is a simple way to help them recover as fully as possible. It should be used alongside an exercise program, because not using the muscles and joints leads to changes that can be reversed only through exercise.”Hiperbaria tlenowa nie jest cudownym lekiem dla dzieci z MPD, ale jest prostą drogą do zapewnienia możliwie jak najpełniejszego wyzdrowienia.

A review suggests that hyperbaric oxygen therapy may help with ulcerative colitis flares and Crohn’s disease, but larger randomized trials are needed.

Aim of the study: Translational data suggest a potential role of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in a subset of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis for the efficacy and safety of HBOT in IBD.

Results: A total 18 studies were included in the systematic review and 16 in the analysis. The overall response rate of HBOT in ulcerative colitis was 83.24% (95% confidence interval: 61.90-93.82), while the response in Crohn's disease was 81.89 (76.72-86.11). The results of randomized trials for HBOT as adjuvant therapy in ulcerative colitis were conflicting. The complete healing of fistula in fistulizing Crohn's disease was noted 47.64% (22.05-74.54), while partial healing was noted in 34.29% (17.33-56.50%). Most of the adverse events were minor. Observational studies suggest benefit of use of HBOT in ulcerative colitis flares and Crohn's disease. However, adequately powered randomized trials are needed to draw a definite conclusion.

A review describes possible benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for heart disease, including improved ejection fraction after a heart attack.

Aim of the study: Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death worldwide, underscoring the urgent need for additional therapeutic strategies to reduce their mortality rates. This review systematically outlines the historical development and recent advances of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in cardiovascular diseases, with a focus on its therapeutic mechanisms and clinical outcomes.

Results: For arrhythmias, hyperbaric oxygen therapy effectively reduces the frequency and duration of premature ventricular contractions and paroxysmal tachycardia, while mitigating the risk of neurological complications following atrial fibrillation ablation. Furthermore, hyperbaric oxygen therapy preconditioning in cardiac surgery has demonstrated improvements in left ventricular stroke work, reductions in postoperative myocardial injury, and a decrease in related complications. Despite its promising applications, the widespread adoption of hyperbaric oxygen therapy remains hindered by the lack of standardized treatment protocols and high-quality evidence from rigorous clinical trials.

A review indicates improvements in symptoms and quality of life in people with fibromyalgia, but stresses that the role of the therapy in chronic diseases requires further research.

Aim of the study: This paper briefly describes the therapeutic mechanisms underlying hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), and reviews data concerning its effects and efficacy in Parkinson's disease (PD) and fibromyalgia (FM).

Results: HBOT is already indicated in various diseases and is the subject of continuous research and development. Data from models of PD show that it may play a neuroprotective role because of its ability to reduce oxidative stress and neurodegeneration, and protect against neuronal apoptosis. It is effective in improving the symptoms and quality of life of fibromyalgia patients, and rectifies abnormal brain activity in pain-related areas. Evidence from animal studies supports its use as an alternative treatment for other rheumatic diseases as it alleviates pain and reduces inflammation. Data mainly from animal studies support the use of HBOT in the treatment of PD and rheumatic diseases, but further work is necessary to clarify its therapeutic role in patients with these chronic disorders.

The description suggests that, for some people with severe diabetic foot ulcers, the therapy may support blood vessel formation and limb salvage.

Aim of the study: Patients with severe diabetic foot ulcerations that fail to heal with standard conventional therapies may be candidates for hyperbaric oxygen therapy; these patients also should be evaluated for atypical wound etiologies. Medical evaluation includes thorough history, physical examination, screening laboratory tests, and ulcer biopsy.

Results: Medical evaluation includes thorough history, physical examination, screening laboratory tests, and ulcer biopsy. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, patients breathe 100% oxygen at 2 times to 3 times atmospheric pressure while enclosed in a hyperbaric chamber. Over time, administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy can result in wound neovascularization and enhanced limb salvage. In patients with suspected atypical ulceration, referral to a multidisciplinary wound healing center is considered standard of care.

In a study of rats, hyperbaric oxygen therapy reduced mortality associated with necrotizing enterocolitis and helped preserve brain cells.

Aim of the study: Necrotizing enterocolitis is the most common gastrointestinal emergency in newborns. Its etiology involves bacterial colonization, enteral formula feeding, and hypoxic-ischemic injury.

Results: The rat pups received hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions at 3 absolute atmospheres for 2 hours each, which were administered over 1 or 2 days. The results demonstrated that hyperbaric oxygen therapy significantly reduced mortality in rats with necrotizing enterocolitis and preserved the number of brain cells in the hippocampus. Additionally, hyperbaric oxygen therapy increased the expression of nitric oxide synthase, intestinal fatty acid-binding protein, and superoxide dismutase 3 in the intestine, and elevated superoxide dismutase 3 levels in the hippocampus. These findings suggest that hyperbaric oxygen therapy not only reduces mortality but also mitigates the severity of intestinal and brain lesions in experimental necrotizing enterocolitis, preserving intestinal cell integrity and enhancing antioxidant mechanisms.

A review describes potential benefits for bone health, but notes that optimal treatment protocols still need to be established.

Aim of the study: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a therapeutic modality that enhances tissue oxygenation by delivering 100% oxygen at pressures greater than 1 absolute atmosphere. In recent years, HBOT has shown considerable potential in the treatment of bone diseases.

Results: Several clinical studies have demonstrated the efficacy of HBOT in improving bone health. However, the optimal HBOT regimen for treating various bone diseases still requires further definition to expand the indications for its clinical application. This paper outlines the mechanisms of HBOT, focusing on its antioxidant stress, promotion of bone vascularization, and anti-inflammatory properties. The paper also describes the application of HBOT in orthopedic diseases, thereby providing a scientific basis for the development of precise and personalized HBOT treatment regimens in clinical orthopedics.

The review found improvements in selected cognitive functions and physical fitness in older adults, although the findings came from a small number of studies.

Aim of the study: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has been investigated as a potential intervention to counteract age-related declines in cognitive and physical performance. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effects of HBOT on these domains in older adults.

Results: Seven studies with 502 participants aged 51-85 years met the inclusion criteria. HBOT protocols varied in pressure (2.0-2.2 absolute atmospheres), duration (60-90 min), and frequency (five to six sessions/week). Two high-quality studies in healthy older adults reported significant improvements in global cognition, attention, executive function, and processing speed as well as enhanced aerobic capacity and pulmonary function. In clinical populations including Parkinson's disease, cerebral small vessel disease, and vascular dementia, moderate-quality studies reported that HBOT combined with pharmacological treatments yielded greater cognitive gains than monotherapy. Physical improvements in these groups were mainly inferred from quality of life and symptom scores. Four studies reported HBOT-related adverse events, which were generally mild and self-limiting. Follow-up intervals ranged from 1 to 4 weeks to ≈12 weeks, limiting conclusions about durability of effects.

In one patient with a hard-to-heal sickle cell ulcer, the wound nearly healed completely and the pain resolved after hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Aim of the study: Sickle cell leg ulcers (SCLUs) are a chronic and debilitating complication of sickle cell disease (SCD), often associated with severe pain, impaired mobility, delayed healing, and recurrence.

Results: We report a 44-year-old man with homozygous SCD (HbSS) and chronic venous disease who developed a painful refractory medial malleolar ulcer that failed to improve with conventional management. Adjunctive hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) was administered alongside standard wound care and was well tolerated, with no treatment-related adverse events. Two months after completion of therapy, the ulcer showed near-complete healing, accompanied by complete pain resolution and restoration of normal ambulation. This case provides additional clinical evidence that HBOT may be feasible and potentially useful in selected patients with refractory SCLUs; however, causality cannot be established from a single case, and prospective evaluation is required.
