What the authors write

Piotr Witczak

Before detoxification, Piotr Witczak recommends supplements and diet, as well as stopping significant ongoing exposure to metals.

„Therefore, avoiding and/or stopping significant ongoing exposure to toxic metals (for example, having amalgam fillings removed according to the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) procedure: https://iaomt.org/) is a necessary condition for starting the next stage of the Program.”Stąd też, warunkiem koniecznym do rozpoczęcia kolejnego etapu Programu jest unikanie i/lub przerwanie istotnej bieżącej ekspozycji na toksyczne metale (np. usunięcie amalgamatów zgodnie z procedurą International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology – IAOMT: https://iaomt.org/).
Piotr Witczak

Piotr Witczak advises against detoxification with chlorella, cilantro, and DMPS or glutathione infusions, and points to the Cutler protocol.

„…detoxification using chlorella, cilantro, intravenous DMPS or glutathione infusions is ineffective and dangerous? …following the principles of pharmacokinetics and using substances that bind heavy metals for long enough is essential for safe and effective detoxification of the body?”…detoksykacja za pomocą chlorelli, kolendry, wlewów dożylnych z DMPS czy glutationu jest nieskuteczna i niebezpieczna? …warunkiem skutecznej i bezpiecznej detoksykacji organizmu z metali ciężkich jest przestrzeganie zasad farmakokinetyki i stosowanie substancji, które na odpowiednio długo wiążą metale ciężkie?
Piotr Witczak

Piotr Witczak also describes supporting the body with diet, supplements, and appropriate protocols while metals are being removed.

„For these reasons, the third stage of the program involves not only removing heavy metals, but also supporting the immune, digestive, nervous, circulatory, and endocrine systems and the mitochondria through appropriate protocols, supplementation, and diet. Introducing these at the right time in the Program will help improve well-being and control symptoms until the probable cause of the disorders—heavy metals—is removed.”Z uwagi na powyższe, III etap programu to nie tylko usuwanie metali ciężkich, ale także wsparcie układu odpornościowego, pokarmowego, nerwowego, krwionośnego, dokrewnego i mitochondriów poprzez właściwe protokoły, suplementację i dietę . Wprowadzenie ich w odpowiednim momencie Programu pozwoli na poprawę samopoczucia i kontrolę objawów do momentu usunięcia prawdopodobnej przyczyny zaburzeń – metali ciężkich.
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak recommends a balanced diet and foods rich in sulfur and selenium, and mentions dandelion, cilantro, silymarin, Mumio, and Lugol’s solution.

„It is worth eating foods rich in selenium, which weakens the toxic effects of mercury. Dandelion is also helpful for cleansing, as are cilantro (its leaves contain cilantro) and Sylimarol (found in a silymarin concentrate made from milk thistle seeds). Mumio, a rich source of vitamins and minerals, can also help cleanse the body.”Warto stosować produkty bogate w selen, który osłabia toksyczne działanie rtęci.
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak proposes first removing metals from shallower stores in the body using, among other things, spirulina, chlorella, and young barley, and then moving on to deeper cleansing.

„After getting rid of metals in the body’s shallow stores using green products—spirulina, chlorella, and young barley—and vitamins that dissolve in fat and water, we can proceed to deep cleansing. This is because heavy metals are also hidden in the bones and brain.”Po pozbyciu się metali z płytkich magazynów organizmu przy użyciu tego, co zielone – spiruliny, chlorelli, młodego jęczmienia – witamin rozpuszczalnych w tłuszczach i w wodzie, możemy przystąpić do głębokiego oczyszczania. Metale ciężkie bowiem ukryte są również w kościach i mózgu.
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak describes alpha-lipoic acid as a substance that binds, among other things, lead, and recommends taking it in repeated doses and cycles.

„ALA is the best chelator for mercury, lead, cadmium, nickel, arsenic, iron, manganese, cobalt, copper, and zinc, and probably also thallium, tungsten, palladium, and antimony. It should be taken in intervals, for example, 7 days on and 7 days off, or in cycles of 14 days on and 14 days off.”ALA jest najlepszym chelatorem rtęci, ołowiu, kadmu, niklu, arsenu, żelaza, manganu, kobaltu, miedzi i cynku, a prawdopodobnie także talu, wolframu, palladu i antymonu. Należy go przyjmować interwałami, np. 7 dni stosowania, 7 dni przerwy, lub w proporcjach 14 dni do 14 dni.
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak describes DMSA and DMPS as chelating agents; he recommends medical supervision and mineral supplementation with DMSA, and stopping its use if the listed adverse effects occur.

„DMSA therapy should be carried out under a doctor’s supervision because chelation affects not only heavy metals, but also copper, molybdenum, zinc, and manganese. Therefore, minerals should also be taken during cleansing. If nausea, vomiting, or a rash occurs, stop using DMSA.”Terapia DMSA powinna być prowadzona pod kontrolą lekarza, ponieważ chelatowanie dotyczy nie tylko metali ciężkich, ale także miedzi, molibdenu, cynku, manganu. Dlatego w czasie oczyszczania należy także stosować suplementację minerałami. W przypadku wystąpienia nudności, wymiotów czy wysypki, należy zaprzestać stosowania DMSA.
Hubert Czerniak

Hubert Czerniak believes that when removing metals, the focus should not be exclusively on fungi; metals, including lead, should be eliminated at the same time.

„If you find Candida Albicans or Aspergirus Niger in a bioresonance test, then your body definitely contains heavy metals: copper, cadmium, lead, and aluminum. We must act to remove them. We should not try to destroy only the fungi. We can destroy the fungi, but at the same time we must eliminate heavy metals. We should even do this first.”Jeżeli w biorezonansie znajdziecie Candida Albicans lub Aspergirus Niger to na 100% w organizmie są metale ciężkie: miedź, kadm, ołów, aluminium. Musimy zadziałać tak, aby je usunąć. Nie starajmy się niszczyć grzybów i tylko ich. Możemy niszczyć grzyby, ale jednocześnie musimy eliminować metale ciężkie. Nawet wcześniej powinniśmy to robić.
Andrzej Frydrychowski

Andrzej Frydrychowski says that the body removes metals mainly through the liver and kidneys.

„Detoxification and excretion take place mainly through the liver and kidneys, so these organs are most at risk of damage. Metals also often accumulate in the bones, brain, and muscles. They can cause immediate acute poisoning or chronic conditions.”Odtruwanie i wydalanie odbywa się głównie poprzez wątrobę i nerki, dlatego te narządy są najbardziej narażone na uszkodzenie. Ponadto często stwierdza się kumulację metali w kościach, mózgu i mięśniach. Mogą też wywołać natychmiastowe ostre zatrucia lub stany przewlekłe.
Andrzej Frydrychowski

Andrzej Frydrychowski describes intravenous EDTA infusions as a chelation method and says that most of this substance is excreted by the kidneys.

„The most popular and effective method (banned by medical chambers) is administering disodium edetate (EDTA) by infusion. This is a very safe and effective method. More than 50 years of experience, research, and scientific studies have shown with certainty that chelation is completely safe.”Najbardziej popularną i skuteczną metodą (zabronioną przez Izby Lekar- skie) jest podawanie we wlewach wersenianu dwusodowego (EDTA). Metoda bardzo bezpieczna i skuteczna. Ponad 50-letnie doświadczenie, prowadzone badania i prace naukowe wykazały z całą pewnością, że chelatacja jest całkowicie bezpieczna.
Nathan S. Bryan

Nathan S. Bryan recommends sweating during exercise or in an infrared sauna and suggests using a toxin binder to help the body eliminate toxins.

„Use an infrared sauna – this provides light therapy but also generates heat so you sweat out toxins. Take 750 mg niacin 20 minutes prior to sauna to help liberate fat soluble toxins. Also consider taking a binder such as activated charcoal or algae prior to workout or sauna.”Use an infrared sauna – this provides light therapy but also generates heat so you sweat out toxins. Nathan S. Bryan

Nathan S. Bryan recommends drinking clean water and eating fiber, and also mentions removing amalgam fillings and treating infections.

„Drink, cook and bathe in good clean water. There is no substitute for pure, clean water. Shoot for drinking at least half a gallon of purified water every day. Avoid drinking municipal water. This will get your kidneys working great to help dilute and excrete toxins. 6. Take fiber every night before bed – This will bulk up your stool and help absorb and eliminate toxins in your stool.”Drink, cook and bathe in good clean water. The review indicates that chelating drugs, used together with reduced exposure, are safe and effective in treating lead poisoning.

Aim of the study: Lead is one of the most toxic heavy metals in the environment. The present review aimed to highlight hazardous pollution sources, management, and review symptoms of lead poisonings in various parts of the world.

Results: Furthermore, neurological, gastrointestinal, and hematological disorders were the most frequently occurring symptoms in lead-poisoned patients. As for therapeutic strategies, our findings confirm the safety and efficacy of chelating agents, even for infants. Our results suggest that treatment with chelating agents combined with the prevention of environmental exposure may be an excellent strategy to reduce the rate of lead poisoning. Besides, more clinical studies and long-term follow-ups are necessary to address all questions about lead poisoning management.

Urinary lead excretion increased in patients after they were given Ca-DTPA.

Aim of the study: Lead is a prevalent environmental pollutant and the heavy metal most frequently associated with toxic effects in humans. This study aimed to evaluate changes in urinary lead excretion following intravenous Ca-DTPA administration.

Results: 9.8; p = 0.003). All participants had detectable urinary lead levels, and intravenous Ca-DTPA administration was associated with a significant increase in urinary lead excretion. Older participants demonstrated greater lead mobilization and excretion than younger participants. These findings suggest that Ca-DTPA may reveal a mobilizable body burden of lead under the tested conditions, but they do not establish lead poisoning, reduction in total-body lead burden, symptom improvement, or long-term clinical benefit.

In mice, LIM205 melanin and its derivative lowered lead levels in tissues and increased its excretion.

Aim of the study: In the present study, an intracellular melanin, named LIM205, was separated from Lachnum YM205 mycelia and was purified on a Sephadex G-15 column. The molecular weight of LIM205 was determined as 522 Da, and its molecular formula was speculated as C28H14N2O7S.

Results: FT-IR, UV, and ESI-MS analysis demonstrated that the carboxymethylate groups were conjugated onto LIM205. The lead detoxification activities of LIM205 and CLIM205 had also been investigated. In vivo test showed that both LIM205 and CLIM205 reduced the tissue lead concentration, enhanced lead excretion, and reversed lead-induced alterations in superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), and malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations in mice, with CLIM205 showed better efficacy. The study indicates that LIM205 and CLIM205 have significant lead detoxification effect which will contribute to solve related problems.

In animal studies, DMSA nanoparticles extended median survival compared with DMSA alone and the lead-poisoned group.

Aim of the study: Chronic lead poisoning has become a major factor in global public health. Chelation therapy is usually used to manage lead poisoning.

Results: Furthermore, the median survival of the RBCM-DMSA-NP treatment group (47 days) was 3.61-fold, 1.32-fold, and 1.16-fold for the lead poisoning group, free DMSA, and DMSA-NP groups, respectively. The RBCM-DMSA-NP treatment significantly extended the cycle time of the drug in the body and improved the survival rate of mice with chronic lead poisoning. Histological analyses showed that RBCM-DMSA-NPs did not cause significant systemic toxicity. These results indicated that RBCM-DMSA-NPs could be a potential candidate for long-term chronic lead exposure treatment.

The designed probiotics bound lead and lowered its blood concentration by about 30% in mice.

Aim of the study: Lead poisoning remains a persistent global health challenge. Current small-molecule chelation therapies for lead poisoning cause systemic side effects due to non-specific metal depletion.

Results: In an acute oral Pb exposure mouse model, EcNC-P-based living materials achieved better efficacy than orally administered DTPA under the same dosing condition, reducing blood Pb levels by ∼30% and increasing fecal Pb excretion by ∼1.2-fold. Therapeutic supplementation of the probiotics promoted fecal lead excretion and markedly decreased tissue lead burdens and was associated with alleviated intestinal inflammation and altered gut microbiota composition. No systemic toxicity or adverse effects were observed with single high-dose use. This surface-anchored customized curli nanofiber probiotic integrates high-affinity lead chelation with the bioactivities of a living biointerface, offering a safe, oral, and programmable platform for the holistic management of lead poisoning.

The cyclic peptide studied bound lead strongly and selectively and limited its toxic effects in cells.

Aim of the study: Lead (Pb) is a ubiquitous poisonous metal, affecting the health of vast populations worldwide. Medications to treat Pb poisoning suffer from various limitations and are often toxic owing to insufficient metal selectivity.

Results: Medications to treat Pb poisoning suffer from various limitations and are often toxic owing to insufficient metal selectivity. Here, we report a cyclic tetrapeptide that selectively binds Pb and eradicates its toxic effect on the cellular level, with superior potency than state-of-the-art drugs. The Pb-peptide complex is remarkably strong and was characterized experimentally and computationally. Accompanied by the lack of toxicity and enhanced stability of this peptide, these qualities indicate its merit as a potential remedy for Pb poisoning.

Modified peptides increased lead binding and limited its toxicity in cells.

Aim of the study: The natural tripeptide glutathione (GSH) is a ubiquitous compound harboring various biological tasks, among them interacting with essential and toxic metal ions. Yet, although weakly binding the poisonous metal lead (Pb), GSH poorly detoxifies it.

Results: β-Mercaptoaspartic acid is a new-to-nature novel amino acid that was found to enhance the Pb-detoxification capability of a synthetic cyclic tetrapeptide. Aiming to explore the advantages of noncanonical amino acids (ncAAs) of this nature, we studied the detoxification capabilities of GSH and three analogue peptides, each of which contains at least one ncAA that harbors both free carboxylate and thiolate groups. A thorough investigation that includes in vitro detoxification and mechanistic evaluations, metal-binding affinity, metal selectivity, and computational studies shows that these ncAAs are highly beneficial in additively enhancing Pb binding and reveals the importance of both high affinity and metal selectivity in synergistically reducing Pb toxicity in cells. Hence, such ncAAs join the chemical toolbox against Pb poisoning and pollution, enabling peptides to strongly and selectively bind the toxic metal ion.

The chelator Dex-DOTA improved the survival of cells exposed to metals and eased their toxicity in nematodes.

Aim of the study: Widespread exposure and bioaccumulation of toxic heavy metals have increased the incidence of metal poisoning, particularly in children. Although chelation therapy can remove toxic metals, current drugs are limited by toxicity and side effects, restricting treatment to severe cases.

Results: Dex-DOTA also showed excellent colloidal stability, no cytotoxicity, and improved cell survival following metal exposure. In C. elegans, the conjugate was nontoxic and mitigated heavy metal-induced toxicity. These findings establish Dex-DOTA as a stable, selective, and biocompatible chelator with strong potential for safer systemic treatment of heavy metal poisoning.

In a mouse study, lead-binding nanoparticles improved survival and reduced organ damage, as well as memory and movement problems.

Aim of the study: Lead (Pb2+) exposure remains a persistent and serious public health concern due to its widespread presence and profound toxicity. Building on recent advances in toxin-neutralizing cell membrane-coated nanoparticles (CNPs) and the discovery of Pb2+-binding DNA aptamers, we develop dual-action neuron-mimetic CNPs for effective Pb2+ detoxification.

Results: In vivo, Neuron-MOF/aptamer-NP treatment significantly improves survival in a mouse model of lead poisoning and reduces hematologic, hepatic, and renal damage. Behavioral assessments further confirm the restoration of spatial memory and locomotor function. Neuron-MOF/aptamer-NPs exhibit no signs of acute toxicity in healthy mice. These findings establish Neuron-MOF/aptamer-NPs as a potent and biocompatible therapeutic platform for targeted lead detoxification with systemic and neuroprotective benefits.

„Recent controlled trials with yeast, fish, mice, rats, chickens, clams, guinea pigs, and turkeys all came to the same conclusion: Vitamin C protects growing animals from heavy metals poisoning. [1-7] Benefits with an animal model do not always translate to equal benefits for humans. In this case, however, the benefit has been proven for a wide range of animals. The odds that vitamin C will protect human children are high. There is a virtual epidemic of behavior problems, learning disabilities, ADHD and autism, and the number of children receiving special education services continues to rise steeply.”Recent controlled trials with yeast, fish, mice, rats, chickens, clams, guinea pigs, and turkeys all came to the same conclusion: Vitamin C protects growing animals from heavy metals poisoning.
