Sources: 9 · Article: 6 935 characters

Henryk Różański says that Shostakovsky’s Balm was taken orally for heartburn and hyperacidity, at a dose of 5–10 ml once a day after dinner.

  • Clay taken orally is supposed to coat the mucous membrane and soothe irritation.
  • For heartburn, he also mentions an herbal mixture and Iberogast, 20 drops three times a day; for hyperacidity, he recommends fresh shepherd’s purse juice or a macerate.
  • Igor Dogocki explains that heartburn may be linked to excessive secretion of stomach acid, even without eating.

Henryk Różański

Shostakovsky’s Balm was taken orally for heartburn and hyperacidity; the dose was 5–10 ml once a day after dinner.

„It turned out that taking the Balm at a dose of 5–10 ml (1–2 teaspoons) once a day after dinner reduced the secretion of pepsin and hydrochloric acid in the stomach, inhibited the self-digestion of the stomach and duodenal walls, and slowed stomach peristalsis. In addition, the Balm increased the flow of bile into the duodenum, formed a protective layer on the walls of the stomach and duodenum, and soothed symptoms of congestion and inflammation of the digestive tract lining.”Okazało się, że Balsam zażyty w dawce 5-10 ml (1-2 łyżeczki) 1 raz dziennie po kolacji, zmniejszał wydzielanie pepsyny i kwasu solnego w żołądku, hamował procesy samostrawienia ściany żołądka i dwunastnicy i spowalniał perystaltykę żołądka. Dodatkowo Balsam zwiększał wydzielanie żółci do dwunastnicy, tworzył warstwę ochronną na ściance żołądka i dwunastnicy oraz łagodził objawy przekrwienia i stanu zapalnego błony śluzowej przewodu pokarmowego.

Clay taken orally is supposed to coat the mucous membrane and soothe irritation; it was mentioned for hyperacidity and irritation of the stomach and intestines.

„Taken orally, clay coats the surface of the mucous membranes with a thin layer and absorbs many substances (bacterial toxins, acids, viruses, bacteria, mycotoxins). It soothes and protects irritated mucous membranes. In larger doses, clay acts against diarrhea and inhibits inflammation of the digestive tract.”Glinka podana doustnie pokrywa powierzchnię błon śluzowych cienka warstwą, absorbuje wiele składników (jady bakteryjne, kwasy, wirusy, bakterie, mikotoksyny), łagodzi podrażnienie śluzówek, osłania. W większej dawce glinka działa przeciwbiegunkowo i hamuje nieżyt przewodu pokarmowego.

Shepherd’s purse was mentioned as a remedy for hyperacidity and stomach pain and cramps; Henryk Różański recommends fresh juice or a macerate of the herb.

„Shepherd’s purse is also a good remedy for urinary tract inflammation; it relieves stomach and intestinal pain and cramps and soothes nervous disorders of the digestive tract. For vaginal discharge, it can be combined with dead-nettle flowers. Other indications for using shepherd’s purse include diabetes, spleen diseases, disorders of bile secretion, arteriosclerosis, rickets, gout, and hyperacidity.”Tasznik jest też dobrym środkiem przy zapaleniu układu moczowego, znosi bóle i skurcze żołądka i jelit, usuwa nerwice przewodu pokarmowego. Apple pulp was once listed as a remedy for hyperacidity and acute gastritis.

„It was observed that apple pulp supports the restoration of gut flora and helps stop diarrhea, and, interestingly, it can also help treat persistent constipation. In the past, official medical indications for eating pulp made from fresh apples included acute gastritis, inflammation of the duodenum and intestines, indigestion, hyperacidity, diarrhea, and constipation.”Zauważono, że pulpa jabłczana sprzyja odnowie mikroflory i hamuje biegunki, a co ciekawe: jest także pomocna w leczeniu uporczywego zaparcia.W dawnej medycynie oficjalnymi wskazaniami do spożywania miazgi ze świeżych jabłek były: ostre zapalenie żołądka, zapalenie dwunastnicy i jelit, niestrawność, nadkwaśność, biegunka, zaparcia.

Mint has an antispasmodic effect and is indicated for cramping stomach complaints.

„It is indicated for cramping complaints affecting the stomach, intestines, and biliary tract. In cases of gallstones, it should be used only in consultation with a doctor. Dosage: taken orally, 3–6 g of the herb or 5–15 ml of tincture. Commission E recognized its antispasmodic effects on the smooth muscles of the digestive tract, as well as its bile-promoting and carminative effects.”Wskazany przy dolegliwościach skurczowych w obrębie żołądka, jelit i układu żółciowego. W kamicy żółciowej powinien być stosowany wyłącznie w porozumieniu z lekarzem. Dawkowanie: wewnętrznie 3-6 g surowca, 5-15 ml nalewki. Igor Dogocki

Igor Dogocki explains that heartburn may be linked to excessive secretion of stomach acid, even without eating.

„This leads to impaired acid production: acid may be secreted excessively, for example, without eating (e.g. heartburn or gastritis), or too little acid may be produced while eating (a feeling of heaviness after eating foods rich in fat and protein).”Prowadzi to do upośledzenia produkcji kwasu – jest on nadmiernie wydzielany np. bez przyjmowania pokarmu (np. zgaga lub zapalenie żołądka ) lub niewystarczającej produkcji kwasu podczas jedzenia (uczucie ciężkości przy jedzeniu pokarmów bogatych w tłuszcz i białko).

Research from PubMed · Europe PMC

We selected 1 studies with the best, positive results. This is a selection, not a full review of all research.

The review indicates that some plants, including liquorice and chamomile, may protect the stomach lining and reduce acid secretion, although further clinical studies are needed.

Aim of the study: Peptic ulcer disease remains a prevalent gastrointestinal disorder worldwide. Current treatments often have limitations, sparking interest in alternative therapies from medicinal plants.

Results: The evidence presented includes in vitro assays, animal models, and some clinical studies. While many of the 53 plants reviewed demonstrated significant anti-ulcer effects compared to standard drugs, further clinical research is needed to establish efficacy and safety in humans. The synergistic actions of phytochemical mixtures in medicinal plant extracts likely contribute to their therapeutic potential. This review highlights the role these North African medicinal plants may play in the prevention and treatment of peptic ulcers and identifies promising candidates for further research and development of evidence-based botanical therapies.
