  • Michał Tombak gives a treatment with wormwood and pumpkin seeds, used for two weeks.
  • Henryk Różański also mentions a blend for prostatitis, but does not give its ingredients in this description.
  • There is no clear recommendation here to stop taking pills and replace them with these treatments.

The review indicates that grass pollen extracts may ease the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia and chronic prostatitis.

Aim of the study: Pollen has been used for centuries as a tonic and a multipurpose remedy in traditional medicine. The present umbrella review aims to qualitatively assess the therapeutic efficacy of orally administered pollen in the management of nonallergic diseases.

Results: Additional preliminary evidence on the topic indicates the potential use of grass pollen extracts for vasomotor symptoms in women. Overall, results of the present review suggest that flower pollen extracts may be useful as a complementary remedy for the management of BPH, CP, and vasomotor symptoms. Evidence regarding bee pollen is too limited to draw any conclusion on its clinical efficacy. Further studies are needed.

The review indicates that saw palmetto, Cernilton, and African plum bark extract may have a beneficial effect on prostate enlargement symptoms.

Aim of the study: and aims: Benign Prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is an important public health problem. Roughly half of all men will suffer from BPH related symptoms later in life. The prostate gland, a hormone dependent part of the male reproductive system, is susceptible to internal and external disruptions of regulatory systems.

Results: Moderate exercise and the type and amount of protein intake have a considerable influence on BPH symptoms. The intake of zinc and vitamin D also positively influence BPH symptoms, and so do certain supplements, such as saw palmetto, cemilton and pygeum extracts. Lifestyle changes, diet modification and certain nutritional supplements can favorably influence BPH symptoms.

In a pilot study of patients with prostate enlargement, Ajuga reptans extract lowered DHT and PSA levels and reduced signs of inflammation.

Aim of the study: Teupolioside effectively reduced hirsutism in policystic ovary sindrome by lowering hormonal levels, thus suggesting potential for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) treatment. This study will assess Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels and prostate inflammation in BPH patients before and after Xipag® (Ajuga Reptans extract) administration.

Results: Total PSA serum levels dropped from 4.21 (3.61-8) ng/mL pre-PB to 2 (1.53-3.03) ng/mL post-Xipag® and pre-TURP (P=0.016). Xipag® significantly reduced CD4+ recruitment by 46.1% and increased CD8+ by 19.89%, enhancing CD4+ target cell elimination (P=0.0003; P=0.0006), indicating inflammatory normalization in BPH tissue. DHT expression decreased by 26.67% post-treatment (P=0.0002; CI -36.08, -17.25). The short period of Xipag® administration effectively reduced DHT and PSA levels in patients affected by BPH. Additionally, it decreased CD4+ T lymphocyte infiltration while promoting CD8+ T lymphocytes, leading to a normalization of the prostate tissue inflammatory infiltrate.

In a rat study, Lycopus lucidus extract reduced prostate weight and improved changes in its tissue.

Aim of the study: Background/Objectives: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common age-related disorder in elderly men and a major cause of lower urinary tract symptoms. Lycopus lucidus Turcz.

Results: Expression of 5α-reductase type 2 and aromatase in the ventral prostate tissue was significantly downregulated, while Bax and Bcl-2 expression and the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio remained unchanged. Conclusions: LLE attenuated TP-induced prostatic hyperplasia in rats, suggesting that modulation of androgen metabolism may contribute to its anti-hyperplastic effects. These findings support further investigation of L. lucidus extract in BPH.

In a rat study, Quisqualis indica extract limited prostate enlargement and lowered prostate weight.

Aim of the study: Quisqualis indica (QI) has been used for treating disorders such as stomach pain, constipation, and digestion problem. This study was aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of QI extract on treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in LNCaP human prostate cancer cell line and a testosterone-induced BPH rat model.

Results: TP-induced prostatic hyperplasia and the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and cyclin D1 were significantly attenuated in QI-treated rats. In addition, QI induced apoptosis by up-regulating caspase-3 and -9 activity and decreasing the B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2)/Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) ratio in prostate tissues of BPH rats. Further investigation showed that TP-induced activation of AKT and glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) was reduced by QI administration. Therefore, our findings suggest that QI attenuates the BPH state in rats through anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic activities and might be useful in the clinical treatment of BPH.

„Like our ears and nose, the prostate continues to grow with age. The normal prostate growth rate is 2.2% per year, doubling in volume every 32.6 years. Unfortunately, the prostate's location just below the neck of the bladder, around the urethra and ejaculatory ducts, and near the rectum, affords little space for expansion. Although prostate cancer often produces similar symptoms of enlargement, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is not cancerous. BPH appears to be an inevitable consequence of ageing, affecting half of men by age 50 and up to 80% of men by age 80.”Like our ears and nose, the prostate continues to grow with age. „Many other people agree that the best way to achieve prostate health is excellent nutrition and supplements. I read an article recently about a gentleman who reversed his prostate cancer by undergoing a weekly intravenous treatment with doses of up to 75 grams of vitamin C.
